This Live Show & Podcast amplifies women's voices through personal stories, original music, social commentary and a special guest conversation.In addition to host Sue Scott, Shanan Custer and Zippy Lask, special guests are:
Mary Kunesh is a Minnesota State Senator who is a champion of racial and gender justice. Chief Author of the Equal Rights Amendment Bill, she is tireless in the drive to enshrine the ERA in the State Constitution. Yay! The first indigenous woman to serve in the Minnesota Senate, Mary is a Standing Rock Sioux descendant. Her legislative focus on Native American issues, education achievement and economic security is informed by her own experience as a once struggling single mom with 3 kids and 25 years as an educator in the public school system.
Jaspar Lepak is a folk/Americana songwriter whose remarkable gift for melody is only surpassed by her poetry. Deeply influenced by the many places she has called home (Tucson, Durban, Seattle and currently Minneapolis), she sweeps across landscapes with an emotional depth that is extraordinary while her clear, pure voice touches the heart. She is currently finishing up a new album which focuses on feminist themes, including songs about choice, pregnancy, parenthood and caregiving.
Doors open in the MainStage at 6:30 pm for dinner & cocktails. Show is 7:30 – 9:00 pm.
