About the Show
April 3–6, 2026
Created and composed by Jay Afrisando; Directed by Sequoia Hauck
NEW DATES after January's postponement due to the continued occupation. AOT continues to prioritize taking care of neighbors and sustaining the resistance while choosing to uplift local working artists, supporting this incredible new work that disrupts colonized narratives.
If there was ever a production that offered sincere communal connection, joyful curiosity, and playful intention, this is it.
[opera captions] is a music-theater-film-poetry performance where captions become an “actor,” exploring how sound is truly felt.
[opera captions] premiered in NYC in 2023. AOT’s production is a newly produced iteration of the original premiere and has been guided by an Advisory Council which includes both Deaf and hearing theater artists.
