About the Show
April 21-30, 2023
By Jessica Swale, Directed by Tammy Ostrander
London 1660. Orange seller Nell Gwynn discovers her talent for the stage and becomes one of the first female performers of the era. As she takes the Restoration world by storm, she catches the eye of King Charles II and soon becomes his favorite mistress. Being the king’s mistress and the world’s most beloved actress is not without its risks, however, as this darling of the stage soon discovers. Soon Nell must decide whether she wants a life in the palace or a life on the stage.
Written for Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Nell Gwynn is the 2016 Olivier Award winner for Best New Comedy. "Bawdy and brilliant ... a wonderful, warm-hearted and generous piece of theatrical history" (The Stage).
