Artistic Director: Michael Smith
“It’s a Grand Night for Singing” features the Legacy Chorale and Legacy Youth Chorale. The Legacy Chorale, under the direction of Michael Smith, is a 65-member auditioned adult choir. Legacy Youth Chorale, led by founding director Kennedy Niska, is a 55-member auditioned choir of young people between the ages of 8 and 12. In total, this concert series will involve 120 musicians from 18 area communities.
The 75-minute program will begin with a set of music by composer Eric Whitacre, performed by members of the Legacy Chorale. Legacy Youth Chorale will take to the stage to present songs from popular musicals before Legacy Chorale members conclude the concert with a medley of Broadway classics.
The final of the three performances will be livestreamed and include ASL interpretation at Gichi-ziibi Center for the Arts, Brainerd. The preceding shows are Friday, April 14 at 7 p.m. at Crosslake Lutheran Church, Crosslake, and Saturday, April 15 at 7 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, Deerwood.
