About the Show
July 28-31, 2022
Once upon a time in a faraway land, an Enchantress turns a cruel, unfeeling Prince into a hideous Beast. To break the spell, the Beast must learn to love another and earn her love in return before the last petal falls from an enchanted rose.
Join Northern Starz' 5th annual Penguin Project -- Theatre for individuals with special needs -- at Anoka Ramsey Community College! ASL on Sunday, July 31.
In The Penguin Project a modified version of a musical is unique because all roles are filled by young artists with developmental disabilities including Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities visual impairment, hearing impairment, and other neurological disorders. They are joined on stage by a dedicated group of “peer mentors” – children the same age without disabilities who volunteer to work side-by-side with them through four months of rehearsals and through the final performance.
Doors open 30 minutes prior to show time. A silent auction and raffle will be available before the show and at intermission to raise money for next year's program.
