Mind:Body is a thought-provoking exploration of the mind-body connection through dance. These innovative performances feature work by Young Dance classes and original pieces created by guest artists Emily Gastineau, Gabriel Rodreick and Meridian Movement Collective (Colin Edwards, Cecil Neal and Alex Arce) in collaboration with the Young Dance Performing Company dancers (ages 7-18).

When we think of our mind-body connection, we often think about mindfulness, attunement and harmony. While aspirational, those can be challenging, requiring much practice and patience. In addition, they can look and feel different for every individual. So, what is the mind-body connection? Young Dance has spent the last year disentangling that question this year and examining how to approach art, art-making and life from an embodied and thoughtful place.

The Young Dance Performing Company is a group of passionate dancers committed to exploring themselves and their world through dance. Dancers ages 7–18 work with professional artists to investigate and collaborate on choreography related to the year’s theme and present their work in a high-quality, innovative performance. In addition, students will showcase works they developed alongside their Teaching Artists, highlighting the individual artistry and collaborative spirit that Young Dance fosters.
