On the weekly radio show “Disability and Progress,” Sam Jasmine interviews people on many disability topics, including arts, health, technology, special events. Thursday, May 2: Jon Skaalen, of the MN Association of Community Theatres and MN Access Alliance, and Celia Hughes, executive director of Art Spark Texas (formerly VSA Texas), will talk about audio description training, Captioning training, and other disability related workshops coming up in May and June.

Thursday, May 9: Robb Leer, the new head of Partners in Policy Making, will bring people from class number 41 to talk about their experiences in learning to advocate for people with disabilities in this class.

Thursday, May 16: Amos Miller from the company Glidance will talk about the product Glide.

Thursday, May 23: Metal Meltdown will take over this day of programing. If you're a metal rocker, you will enjoy this music. Oh, and if you didn't have a chance to donate during pledge drive, feel free to do it that day.

Thursday, May 30: Susan Kline, MD, MPH professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine at the U of M Medical School, will talk about Measles. What in the world is going on with all these growing outbreaks?

About the Show

First Thursday of each month

Join fellow artists at this monthly gathering to share art in an informal, supportive setting. Bring a sample of your Writing, Visual Art, Music, Memoir, Poetry, Photography, Video, Storytelling or other artform.

Open Flow is a space where artists with and without disabilities can meet and share their work with one or another.

Open Flow meets on First Thursdays at 7:00 pm remotely via the Zoom video-conferencing app (with or without a web camera) or by regular telephone. An in-person gathering is typically held each December for a holiday party at Springboard for the Arts, 262 University Ave. W., St. Paul. Other in-person gatherings may be scheduled.

If you have never used Zoom, please contact Andy at Springboard for a step-by-step guide on getting set up. It's free, and you can join by video or any telephone (cell or landline). You don't need a video camera or computer to join.
