About the Show

Feb. 13 - March 31, 2024

Story by Lewis Carroll; Adapted for the stage by Sharon Holland; Music by Victor Zupanc; Directed by Peter C. Brosius

Take a tumble down the rabbit hole with Alice and you’ll land in a wonderfully wacky world of rhymes and ridiculousness, checkerboards and cheeky cats, Mad Hatters and mayhem. In this head-spinning show, Alice chases the White Rabbit through the audience, attends the most absurd tea party in history, and faces off with the ragingly red Queen of Hearts, all amidst a melee of teeny tiny songs. Humpty Dumpty on a ladder — what could possibly go wrong? Curiouser and curiouser….

Two hours with one 20-minute intermission.

About the Show

by Alison O’Daniel

Alison O’Daniel’s debut feature film is framed by a mysterious rash of tuba thefts from Los Angeles schools in the early 2010s. Using the absence of this central instrument for these bands as a starting point, O’Daniel’s film asks what it means to listen. Alongside collaborations with other Deaf artists, such as Christine Sun Kim and the drummer Nyeisha “Nyke” Prince, the film weaves in re-enactments of significant historical concerts in which audiences experienced music through silence—the premiere of John Cage’s 4’33’, the last punk show at San Francisco’s Deaf Club, and Prince’s surprise concert at the Deaf university, Gallaudet, on his Purple Rain tour. O’Daniel’s genre-defying film radically reorients the possibilities of what a d/Deaf cinema might sound like. 2023, US, American Sign Language and English with open captions, DCP, 91 min.

Both screenings will be introduced by Alison O’Daniel. There will be a Q&A following the screenings.

About the Show

March 8-31, 2024

Written by James Ijames, Directed by Pirronne Yousefzadeh

Ravaged by illness and cared for by the very slaves that will be free the moment she dies, Martha Washington’s fever dreams are haunted by a range of characters, from Queen Charlotte and George Washington, to a present-day trial lawyer, building up to reconnecting with family, legacy and broken promises. Written by Pulitzer winner James Ijames, this biting satire examines history’s impact on present-day systems.

The performance runs about 90 minutes, without an intermission. Content is for mature audiences. Learn + Do events featuring conversation with guests, activities and food follow the shows on March 10, 17, 24 and 31.
