About the Show

Dec. 16, 2023 - Jan. 28, 2024

by YASMINA REZA; translated by CHRISTOPHER HAMPTON; directed by KIMBERLY SENIOR

Serge begins his foray into contemporary art collecting with a big purchase: an unframed white canvas with barely-there white diagonal lines. When his close friend Marc regards the painting with ridicule, Serge is deeply insulted. The two men separately vent to their mutual confidant Yvan, who sees both sides of their seemingly trivial disagreement but wants to keep the peace. When the three friends meet for a night out, the dispute escalates into an all-out interrogation of why they’re even friends in the first place. Brimming with intense and funny dialogue, this Tony Award-winning satire circles existential questions and regularly breaks the fourth wall to include the audience in the onstage musings.

About the Show

January 20, 2024

Wonderland is a theatrical dance production that aims to de-stigmatize mental health issues. Set in a psychiatric hospital, characters from Alice in Wonderland face challenges, explore what “normal” means, and share an uplifting story of empathy, acceptance, and friendship in the face of mental illness. The story is told using Collide’s signature blend of high-energy dance set to a pop-rock soundtrack.

Originally created in the spring of 2021, Wonderland was developed with the help of mental health professionals. It was enthusiastically received by critics (“spectacular and striking,” said TwinCitiesArts.com) and audiences. "I had no idea how much my family needed your show,” said one patron. Another patron, clinical social worker Jeannine Myrvik, said, “When I saw Wonderland my first thought was, this performance HAS to be in schools.” Based on this feedback, Collide developed a condensed version of the show aimed specifically at children.

This special family adaptation of the show has lots of fun components for kids:

● The Mad Hatter will lead children in theater games to start the show.
● Kids will learn a dance combination that they will be invited to dance with the cast at the
end of the show.
● Families can get photos with the characters.
All while providing a positive message about mental health and empathy!

Run Time: 60 minutes, no intermission. (NOTE: A 10:00 AM performance has been canceled.)

Collide Theatrical is a storytelling dance company dedicated to telling narrative stories through dance and music that inspire, educate and entertain multi-generational audiences.
