Thursday, March 14: Professor Joseph Gaugler, director of the U of M's Center for Healthy Aging and Innovation, will speak about Alzheimer's. What do we know now about it? Has it changed?

Thursday, March 28: Nic Novicki, Founder and Director of the film challenge, will discuss the Disability Film Challenge, and about bringing together the world's first disability loop group. What is that, you ask? Tune in and find out.

Thursday, February 15: Marina Gephart, Senior Media Associate at Compassion & Choices and media lead in Minnesota, talks about that organization and what is happening in Legislation about end of life choices.

Thursday, February 8: Franke James discusses her book, "Freeing Teresa: A True Story about My Sister and Me."

About the Show

First Thursday of each month

Join fellow artists at this monthly gathering to share art in an informal, supportive setting. Bring a sample of your Writing, Visual Art, Music, Memoir, Poetry, Photography, Video, Storytelling or other artform.

Open Flow is a space where artists with and without disabilities can meet and share their work with one or another.

Open Flow meets on First Thursdays at 7:00 pm remotely via the Zoom video-conferencing app (with or without a web camera) or by regular telephone. An in-person gathering is typically held each December for a holiday party at Springboard for the Arts, 262 University Ave. W., St. Paul. Other in-person gatherings may be scheduled.

If you have never used Zoom, please contact Andy at Springboard for a step-by-step guide on getting set up. It's free, and you can join by video or any telephone (cell or landline). You don't need a video camera or computer to join.

Sue Scott's Island of Discarded Women Live Show & Podcast is a variety show recorded live at Crooners Supper Club. Our show is all about amplifying women's voices through personal stories, social commentary, original music and a special guest conversation.

The special guest on February 1 is Alison Young, who has lived the life of a professional musician and classical music radio announcer -- and now embraces life as “the blissful hiker,” walking 12,000 miles on six continents and encouraging us all to “hike your own hike.”

Musical guest is Katie Dahl is a singer, songwriter & playwright known for her “razor sharp lyrics, with a hearty and soulful voice.” She’ll perform songs from her latest album, Seven Stones, and the deeply personal and bravely honest stories behind them.

Guest contributor Mary Shaffer will share a story about finding joy when you least expect it. Plus regular cast members Dae Yang & Silvia Pontaza, singer/songwriter Zippy Laske, and host Sue Scott.

Doors open at 6:30 for ordering dinner & drinks before the show!
