About the Show

Nov. 24 - Dec. 17, 2023

by Ginna Hoben

On Christmas Eve, Celia’s only child, Kit, confesses that she would rather live with her dad and his much younger partner beginning tonight, the couple’s wedding night. Left alone feeling powerless and enraged, Celia’s eccentric sister Louise shows up to help her out of her despair. Celia wakes up in an alternate dimension where the sisters review her past, present and potential future. With a nod to the classics “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “A Christmas Carol,” DECKED! is a seriocomic holiday play that explores themes of letting go and moving on.

About the Show

November 11 - December 30, 2023

by CHARLES DICKENS; adapted by LAVINA JADHWANI; directed by ADDIE GORLIN-HAN based on the original direction by JOSEPH HAJ

A miserly and miserable man, Ebenezer Scrooge greets each Christmas with “Bah! Humbug!” until he is visited one Christmas Eve by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future. In Charles Dickens’ beloved classic, the three spirits show Scrooge happy memories from his past, difficult realities from the present and a grim future should he continue his closed-hearted ways. Throughout his journey, Scrooge is forced to reckon with the man he has become and contemplate the man he could be — but only if his restless night leads to a change of heart by morning.

The Guthrie’s relaxed (or Sensory Friendly) performances, open to all patrons, are intentionally modified to accommodate patrons with sensory and vestibular sensitivities, anxiety, dementia, autism spectrum disorders, learning differences or challenges attending the theater. For more information: https://www.guthrietheater.org/plan-your-visit/accessibility-offerings/relaxed-performances/.
