About the Show
April 25-29, 2024
by HOWARD BRENTON; directed by STEPHEN DiMENNA
Henry VIII's notorious second wife, Anne Boleyn, changed the course of England's history. In Howard Brenton's epic drama, the brilliant-but-reckless Anne, confident in her sexuality and her love for Henry, leads the 16th-century charge for England’s Protestant Reformation. Meanwhile, in 1603, King James I discovers Anne’s belongings while being haunted by her ghost, which inspires him to explore his own gender and sexuality. This production challenges the view of Anne Boleyn as a pawn of an ambitious family or a predator manipulating her way to power, revealing how disrupting the status quo made her lose her head.
This production contains stage blood, strobe lights and haze.
