About the Show

Oct. 10 - Nov. 19, 2023

By juliany tavera; Based on the Book by Christine Baldacchino & Isabelle Malenfant; Directed by Heidi Stillman

Morris likes lots of things: doing puzzles, painting pictures, pretending to be an astronaut, and wearing a tangerine dress from his school’s dress-up box because it “reminds him of tigers, the sun, and his mother’s hair.” But some of his classmates think boys can’t wear dresses because … well, because they’re boys. With his vivid imagination and space-animal friends, Morris travels the galaxy in search of an answer to the all-important question: “Do astronauts wear dresses?”

At this Sensory Friendly performance, sensory modifications are balanced with preserving the engaging theatre experience desired by all children and families. Sensory Friendly programming was developed in partnership with Fraser, ByPercent and the Autism Society of Minnesota. About the Show

Nov. 17-19, 2023

The second annual Off-Kilter Cabaret will feature performers with disabilities presenting short original works on the theme “Inside, Outside, Inside-Out.”

Showcased artists include Braille, Scott Sorensen, Young Dance, AJ Isaacson-Zvidzwa, Desdamona, Houa Moua, and Tessa Longshore. Covering a range of artistic disciplines including dance, comedy, puppetry, musical composition, spoken word and storytelling, they will each focus 10-minute performances on their hidden self and perception of their personal identity in the larger world.

The Off-Kilter Cabaret is produced by Off-Leash Area, under co-artistic directors Jennifer Ilse and Paul Herwig, who have a 24-year history of presenting original interdisciplinary performance work. The Off-Kilter Advisory Group from the disability community includes writer and storyteller Amy Salloway (serving as emcee for the shows), multidisciplinary artist Gabriel Rodreick, arts accessibility consultant Jon Skaalen, and Sam Jasmine, host of the Disability and Progress program on KFAI. Off-Leash Area is also excited to continue its partnership with Young Dance, whose mission is “transforming lives through movement.”

The facility is fully accessible and each performance offers American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation and Audio Description. Saturday’s show will also offer Live Captioning. A reception will follow Friday’s opening, and post-show discussions will follow Saturday & Sunday shows. Masks will be required only at the Sunday matinee. About the Show

October 27 - November 26, 2023

The Moving Company, directed by Dominique Serrand

The Jungle pairs up with the creative team behind the nationally acclaimed production of Molière’s THE MISER and the game-changing re-interpretation of Molière’s TARTUFFE in this new, uncompromising examination of Molière’s THE MISANTHROPE.

Playful, fragile, heart wrenching, incendiary. Co-producers and adaptors Steven Epp, Nathan Keepers and Dominique Serrand bring the theatrical singularity The Moving Company is known for to Molière’s powerful masterpiece — a subversive interrogation of society, philosophy, truth, friendship, love, our collective liability, and our individual responsibility.

Featuring Nathan Keepers, Steven Epp, Sally Wingert, Tracey Maloney, Liz Wisan.
